Burkwood Viburnum is prized for its stunning clusters of pinkish white spring flowers with a wonderful spicy-sweet fragrance and beautiful, lustrous, dark green foliage. Upright, fully branched form well suited as a hedge, screen or accent plant. Evergreen to semi-evergreen.
This viburnum grows well in partial to full sun and needs regular watering, weekly, or more often in xtreme heat. It is a moderate grower that has an upright habit reaching 6 to 12 feet tall and 4 to 5 feet wide. The key feature of this plant is it amazingly fragrant flowers which bloom in the spring. The Burkwood Viburnum is an excellent border plant that also works well as a hedge or privacy screen for an urban setting. It also works extremely well as a windbreak.
Provide well-draining soil. Follow a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. Tolerates dry spells, when established. Feed with a general purpose fertilizer before new growth begins in spring. For a tidy, neat appearance, shear annually to shape.Pruning time: late winter or early spring.
