This new Azalea from Monrovia has luxuriant carmine-red blooms cover spreading dark green, glossy evergreen foliage as it drifts through the garden blanketing perennial borders with beautiful late spring color. When cool weather arrives, the leaves turn a handsome black-purple color. It is a low growing azalea and its spreading habit creates wonderful ground cover. Works also in pots.
It grows best in partial shade to filtered sun and needs regular watering, weekly, or more often in extreme heat. It will spread to 20 inches tall and 32 inches wide. (Dwarf Plant) Beautiful soft deep pink blooms arrive in later spring to early summer. Use this azalea in a border, edging or mass plant for ground cover.
Provide well-drained soil, acidic and rich in organic matter. Best in an east or north exposure, protected from harsh sun in hot, dry climates. Feed with an acid fertilizer after bloom. Keep roots cool with a thick layer of mulch. Requires little to no pruning.
