Mason Jar Terrarium Class for the KIDS!
Starting at 10AM – $20 Per child
The parenting world seems to have come down with a major case of terrarium fever, and we’re no exception here at VW’s. It’s so much fun creating these lush little worlds. One big benefit to humans of cats and dogs … your animals can’t get to the plants inside. We’ve been having a lot of fun making woodland-themed moss terrariums for our kids, so I thought I’d share what we’ve learned with our VW customers. You can purchase mason jars or any old glass containers at big box stores. Better is to reuse mason jars you may already have on hand. The rest of the materials needed can easily be found here at VW’s Home & Garden … but feel free to supplement by bringing your own items … ie dinosaurs, giraffes, or Tommy the Train.
Included in the class fee for Terrarium are:
- Glass mason jar with lid
- Succulents and other small plants
- Potting soil
- Small stones, pebbles, or gravel
- Sheet moss (sometimes called preserved sheet moss.)
Some ideas you can bring your self are:
- Decorations (such as small toys, larger rocks, etc.)
- Activated charcoal
- Chopsticks or bamboo skewers
